Since 1930, glass fiber has been considered one of the materials of the future because of its dielectrical qualities. The insulation of electrical conductors subjected to high temperatures was to provide E-glass filament (used on its own or with varnished or synthetic resins) with its first large-scale industrial application.
The manufacture of glass is carried out in a special furnace at about 1550°C (E-glass) using finely ground raw materials from carefully selected quarries. The glass leaves the furnace at a very high temperature and is used to feed bushings (blocks pierced with hundreds of holes) of platinum alloy. Most Vetrotex products are based on E-glass. Other glasses include R glass (high mechanical performance), D glass (high dielectric performance) and AR glass (alkali- and corrosion-resistant).
